The Institute of Drilling and Petroleum Engineering (IDPE) is now receiving applications from interested candidates who will take our Petroleum Assistant Driller training February and April promo classes.

IDPE is a centre accredited by the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) and The Federal Ministry of Education Nigeria.

About The Course

The Assistant Driller Training Course is accredited under Drilling Industry Training (DIT) through IADC. The certificates are recognised worldwide irrespective of the Drilling location or the contractor. Students can move abroad to look for jobs with IADC accredited certificates from this course.

This course is combined onshore and offshore competency training.  You will cover comprehensive drilling courses in the classroom and then get complete rig site practical training by IDPE drilling company partners.  You will work alongside with company drilling crew, Oil company personnel and service companies present at the rig site who will train all the students on the job.

Objectives: 
To provide to the student the knowledge and skills required for Assistant Driller position and perform the assigned tasks safely and efficiently.

Part B:
Rig Practical Exposure on the Rig, Candidates will be able to witness live drilling operations and combined both class and field knowledge. Perform Roustabout, Floorman, Derrickman and Assistant Driller task during training.

Drilling systems and how they work
Pick up and lay out drill string
Inspect drill string
Bops
Mud pumps
Pit valve system
Derrick work
How to keep pit records
Organise crew
Relieve driller
Floorman level  element of performance
Use and maintain tongs, slips etc
Maintain primary equipment
Tripping drill string
Maintenance drilling
Derrickman level  element of performance
Asst. Driller level element of performance
Training with  the mud engineer
Training with  the Mud logger
Training with the Solid Control Equipment Engineer.
Training with the Driller on the Rig Floor.
Training with  the Directional Driller
Training with  the Geologist
Training with  Tool Pusher

Entry Qualification: 
OND, HND, BSc  from a reputable school.
(Experience candidates with O’level will be considered).

Successful Candidate’s CV will be screened by the Drilling Companies who will in turn invite students for entry level job openings.

Course Duration: 20 Days combined class room, Rig Training and Project work.

Course Dates:  February, 2016  
Class room:    6days
Rig practical:   4days
Project Work and submission: 10days.
           
Training Venue:  Multimix Training Centre, Tapa House 3rd Floor, Imam Dauda Street, Off Eric Moore Road Surulere, Lagos.

Start Dates:
February 22nd to March 13th, 2016.
April 4th to 23rd, 2016.
Training Method:  Instructor-led

Training Cost

Fees covers Lunch during class room training, certificates, complete set of and PPE.  Candidates will be provided Accommodation, feeding and transport at the Rig site.
