THE PROBLEMS WITH UNEMPLOYMENT AND DIVERSIFICATION SERMONS IN NIGERIA

Nigeria is an Esau nation. We have so much resources in abundance but we hate process. Each time we need fuel we depends on the neighbouring countries for a refined oil, how can a nation developed if over 200 by-products from crude is to the advantages of the other countries. The worst of this is that these products are always been imported back to us with a huge some of money leaving our pocket again.

DIVERSIFICATION OF ECONOMY GOVERNMENT UPON GOVERNMENTS HAVE BEEN PREACHING IS BECOMING A MIRAGE.

I can tell you with all sincerity that Nigeria diversification of economy can only becomes a reality only when begin to pay special attentions to HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT. The children you did not build or trained will destroy the house you are building or have laboured to build.

THE GREATEST EMPLOYMENT POWER IS IN THE HANDS OF UNEMPLOYED YOUTHS.
I am of the opinion that NYSC though am not advocating for outright scrapping but restructuring to
serve the pressing needs that we as a nation is facing right now. Nigerian graduates have the potentials of generating over a million employment annually if given opportunity. Every single undergraduate and graduate is interested in one skill or the other but Nigeria business environment is not conducive for them neither is our government offering them support. they were forced to the streets looking for white collar jobs that end up getting dirty in reality.

Am not in anyway against NYSC program, I salute General Yakubu Gowon who introduced this to solve the problem of disintegration as at then but sincerely the program had recorded a huge success, we must as a matter of urgency channel this to solve another pressing needs that has the capacity of even tearing families apart "unemployment".

I suggest that the orientation camp of the NYSC should be refurbished and equipped for workshops. Let several vocations programmes be introduced, ranging from tailoring, decor, photography, woodwork, metal craft, makeups, etc.

BENEFITS OF THIS TO THE GOVERNMENT AND THE TEEMING YOUTHS 

1. Instead of one year services that add little or nothing to them, this training can only last for 6months and much will be achieved.
2. Instead of one million naira claimed to be spending on each corper yearly, Three Hundred Thousand Naira can train each of them for 6months
3. Instead of abandoning them to face the hardship outside there after the service, Four Hundred Thousand Naira start-up can be given to them. This is will get them engaged.
4. Instead of leaving them to their fate, the monitoring or supervisory team can be setup that will monitor and offer support till they can stand alone. This will prevent them from using the money outside its purpose.
5. This means we will have few undergraduates roaming the streets for the jobs that are not available.

6. Our graduates from Education line will do their service in schools and their performance will earn them employment in the education sector and other related sectors. Some will end up getting a civil service jobs, some who have interest in vocation will not be shut out.
7. And do you know what, many Multi-National Corporations will be glad to partner with Federal Government on this.

This is the new face of youth corpers I want to see in the future. Nigerian Youths Entrepreneur Service Corp.

Less money will be spent, more benefits to Nigerians, our Economy and the GDP.
